Haiku (or Hokku) is an ancient form of Japanese poetry that has become very popular all over the world. Famous for its small size, the haikus consists of only three lines (turset); The first and third lines have five syllables, while the second has seven. Haikas do not have to rhyme and are usually written to elicit a particular mood or example. So, you can have a lot of fun with them! You may have written or found yourself writing your haiku at some point in school, or you can get creative and try it at home as well.

Free poetry is a popular genre of modern poetry, and as its name suggests there is a fair amount of freedom when it comes to writing poems like this. The free verse may or may not rhyme, it may contain as many lines or verses as the poet wants, and it can be just about anything you like! Sonnet Poems — Famous Poems
This very old form was made famous by none other than William Shakespeare, but the sonnet actually originated in Italy in the 13th century. Took the place where it was completed. The poet Petrarch. The word ‘sonnet’ is derived from the Italian word ‘sonnetto’ which means ‘little song’. Traditionally, sonnets are made up of 14 lines and usually deal with love. As a rule, Petrarchan (Italian) sonnets follow an ABBA ABBA CDE CDE rhyme scheme, whereas Shakespearian (English) sonnets are typically ABAB CDCD EFEF GGs. But of course, rules are made to be broken!
